"Obviously" a paying-insufficient-attention, inadvertent, post to RAS; I
blame "the usual suspects; my apologies to RAS readers...

You can always go to https://groups.google.com/g/rec.aviation.soaring , click on the top right corner drop down menu, then click on the "Delete" option, if it was really just an inadvertent post, so that it will not be unsuccessfully searched for glider- or soaring related content.

This post was also an accident, right? Same, delete it:

Very common misconception. If you posted it through the Google
interface, then yes you can delete it off the Google system.

But as soon as it was posted on Google, it got relayed to the Usenet
network, where it will stay forever.

For example, some recent postings from "Dee" were deleted off Google,
and remain on Usenet, where people are free to see and reply to them.

R.A.S. is NOT a Google Group, no matter how many people believe that it
is.

Your messages remain on my computer, because they were downloaded before
you "deleted" them. Another example would be aviationbanter, which
archives R.A.S. messages. About 2/3 of the way down the first page:

Similarly, in the unfortunate "Acid Al" discussion, Mr. St. Cloud was
one good sneeze away from blowing a gasket in a posting he did, but then
"deleted"

Thanks! Those are disgraceful messages; too bad there's no way of voting me off the group. By the way, while you were off in the bushes looking for the boogey-man, most of us already knew that deleted messages show up here on RAS every time someone responds to them. Try it, just click on the "..."
